Comment by PestXs: 18600 miles 2000 Just bought the bike, cable broke/frayed near kink in cable near the forks after 2 weeks. Bike is in very rough/little maintenance from previous owner. Comment by helzerr: The original cable was still working but showing wear at 21K miles, so I replaced it. The replacement broke at just under 10K miles. 1998 model year, original cable replaced in March of '07. Regular maintenance performed on both cables. Comment by atrain: bought the bike ('99) in 2007. Had less than 3000 miles on it, but hadn't been ridden for a while. Comment by Zeke: Only 2000 miles. Comment by MIK: 2001. Cable lubed a couple of times. Comment by Payne: I replaced mine at 30,000 as a preventative measure. 2003 bike. Lubed the cable once at 24,000 miles. Comment by sabby: never had it break yet 8,000 miles on bike so far on a 2002 Comment by IanJ: Currently have 19k on the bike, no breakage. Lubricated the cable once at 15k miles, no issues yet. The lubrication was definitely an improvement. Comment by Becky: 14,365 Comment by Andrew Duthie: 21,000 miles so far. Comment by zerocool: 15,000 lubed cable with chain wax every 1000 miles Comment by Jeb: 15-20K seems to be the norm with decent maintenance for me. Not a big deal for a $10 part that fits under the seat. |
